How to Install Gulp.js on Ubuntu 18.04 & 16.04 LTS


Gulp is an toolkit helps developers for the automation of painful workflow during the development. This tutorial will help you to install Gulp on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, 16.04 LTS, and LinuxMint operating systems.

Step 1 – Installing Node.js

First of all, you need to install node.js on your system. Use following set of commands to add node.js PPA in your Ubuntu system and install it.

sudo apt-get install python-software-properties
curl -sL | sudo -E bash -
sudo apt-get install nodejs

Make sure you have successfully installed node.js and NPM on your system

node --version
npm --version

Step 2 – Install Gulp.js on Ubuntu

After installation of Node.js and Npm on your system, use following commands to install Gulp globally.

sudo npm install -g gulp

You have successfully installed Gulp. Let’s check the installed version of bower on your system using the following command.

gulp --version
